Does Acupuncture Hurt?

One of the most common misconceptions regarding acupuncture needles is that they are going to hurt. Let me put your mind at ease…

The instruments that I use are very fine, filliform and stainless steel. They are sterile packaged and then discarded after a single use.

They are very different from the scary hypodermics that you may be accustomed to when receiving a shot from the nurse in a Western hospital. Whereas ours are small and solid, hypodermics are large and hollow.

In fact, 10 needles can fit into the hollow opening of a single hypodermic!

Because of their small size and advanced design, they are virtually painless upon insertion.

So no need to worry.

Receiving acupuncture is actually extremely relaxing and pleasant. Many of my patients tell me that they actually crave the sensation produced during their treatments, and report a deep sense of well being and calm that lasts.
